On this past thursday my 93 TT Z was stolen out of my college campus, the supposedly secure parking lot of Seton Hall. I was only on campus for about two hours. I left the car parked at 12 and returned from my classes at 2:15 to find my Z gone, terror set in. No trace of brake in, no broken glass nothing. Just some big buick in the space that i walked away from my Z in. Well after filing a police report LoJack was activated and the car was recovered five hours later by the police, but they told me nothing of the condition of the car but just how to go and retrieve it the next morning. So you guys can imagine, going to sleep that night without my Z in the garage, knowing that it was sitting in some tow yard and god knows what these low lives had done to my baby. Well after a restless night, I went to the Newark, NJ police station, a hassel in itself, and they gave me the release papers to get my car. On to the tow yard. Well, it turns out that the people that stole the car, smashed the drivers side t-top glass and unlocked the car from the inside in broad daylight in the middle of a patroled lot. From the day i got the car the stock alarm never worked no matter how i tryed to solve the problem, and it was pretty ironic that i had an appointment to drop my car off to get an alarm installed on this coming monday. Anyway they drove the car out the one and only exit and only put about ten miles on the car before parking it and taking my head unit, amp, subs, turbo-timer, some cloths, all of my CD's (about 500 bucks worth), the other t-top that they had not broken and my floor mats (still trying to figure that one out). Not to mention completely screwing my ignition, tearing up the leather because the idiots sat on the glass that was allover the interior, pulling up part of my dash, and completely removing the cover over the fuel tank behind the seats. Some mess. But thats basically it, the engine is completely intact, the tires and stock rims are still on, and beleive it or not, only two exterior scratches, one on the front right rim and the other on the front right part of the bumper where it looks like they lightily bumped the curb when parking it. But i was expecting alot worse that this. Anyway the car was recovered like i said only five hours later with the help of LoJack and with relatively minimal damage considering what they could have done. I think thats everything, and i do have full coverage so every thing should be handled. I just can't beleive that people can actually have the balls to steal a car off a patroled lot in the middle of the day at a college. The thought of someone driving my Z around the depths of Newark, which is not the greatest area for those of you who aren't aware, and screwing with everything. So now I have to wait for nissan to look at it and see if their is any other damage, i bet my clutch is fried, and then the adjuster to look at it. But all in all i am so gald that i got it back, but i miss driving it already and i suspect that it will be a wile before i drive her again. What pisses me off the most is that the car was in pristine condition, the one owner before me loved this car as much as i do and he took imaculate care of it just as i did and now these scum have ruined that. But at least i have it and it's not on some boat or in pieces. Well just wanted to share, keep those Z's well in sight and armed. We're down but not out ( me and my Z that is). Adam
